Irish Passport Holders Travelling to South Africa

Irish passport holders are not required to obtain a visa prior to arrival in South Africa for short social visits of up to 90 days.  Further information about other types of visas can be obtained by contacting the South African Embassy in Dublin.

Travellers in both directions should ensure that their passport is valid for at least six months from their intended date of departure from the country being visited.

South African Passport Holders Travelling to Ireland

South African Passport holders do not need a visa to enter Ireland. South Africans travelling to Ireland must be able to satisfy the Immigration Officer at the Port of entry, providing to him/her that they have a valid reason for entering Ireland and may be asked for documentation to support their case.

Please note that NO "Entry" letters will be issued by the Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria for travellers on a South African passport or any other passport that does not require a visa to enter Ireland.

South African Passport holders need to travel on a valid full South African passport and not a temporary travel document. There needs to be more than 6 months validity on the passport from the date of return.
